I was drawn back to Leavenworth to experience the Enchantments in the Fall. Last time we were there we tackled Colchuck Lake and Lake Stuart, but this time we approached them from the opposite end arriving at Nada Lake. Now, all we need to do is get helicoptered in to do all the middle ones, such as Snow Lakes, Lake Viviane, Leprechaun Lake, Sprite Lake, Enchantment Lakes, Inspiration Lake, Perfection Lake, Isolation Lake and Tranquil Lake. All together it is a 22 mile one way trek, which requires a car or a person waiting at the other end for you. Needless to say, there will never be a shortage of hikes nor alpine lakes to visit around here.
This weekend coincided with the Leavenworth Marathon, I am convinced the trails were empty due to that.
Sunlight threw autumn leaves, sheer brilliance.
On this particular day I focused my attention on achieving sun spots in my photos.
We had the lake to ourselves, well us and the whisky jacks looking for a hand out.
It is interesting how sometimes the sun spots were white and other times they were pinky purple.
We were surrounded by so many high peaks that we were hiking in and out of shadows on the way down.
Probably my favorite sun spot photo. All in all it was a spectacular day, gorgeous weather, ten miles hiked and the sore bodies to prove it.
