French Polynesia: Mo'orea
With Valentine's Day less than a month away I have been reminiscing about some of the most romantic trips we have ever taken. For the trip of a lifetime might I suggest a vacation to French Polynesia, more specifically to the island of Mo'orea. Mo'orea is located eleven miles northwest of Tahiti, you can access the island either by taking a ferry or a short fifteen minute flight. When possible we like to travel like the locals, so us and several dozen elementary school children boarded the ferry one perfectly beautiful morning bound for Mo'orea.
We chose to stay at the Sofitel Moorea la Ora, primarily because it has the best beach in all of Moorea. Also because the bungalows face Tahiti which we thought would be more interesting than just looking at water for as far as the eye can see.
There is a direct eight hour flight out of Los Angeles to Tahiti. Our trip was a total of ten days and we split our time between Moorea and Bora Bora. Of the two islands we found Moorea to be less touristy, easier to get to and much. much cheaper. We would go back to Moorea in a heartbeat, but I don't think we would ever return to Bora Bora unless we won the lotto.
