A little bit about Lisette.....

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I feel most alive surrounded by trees and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

When I am not working you will most likely find me spending time outdoors, volunteering with my church and exploring this beautiful planet with my family.

This is my place to share my passion for life and to encourage you to take time to find the extraordinary in your life.

ION Luxury Adventure Hotel

ION Luxury Adventure Hotel

Over the years, I have been fortunate to stay at some pretty splendid hotels, but the ION Luxury Adventure Hotel has definitely made its way among my top ten favorite hotels of all time. When looking for a hotel to stay at while on vacation I typically select it based upon three criteria: location, design and uniqueness.

I like to stay at hotels which are either close to everything (a city vacation) or in jaw dropping, beautiful, remote locations. The ION hotel fits the latter. I like a hotel to have a good sense of style and a wonderful aesthetic, I want to feel not only at home, but as though I could live there forever. Lastly, if I am going to spend my hard earned money to stay somewhere I want it to be a unique experience.

When we decided to stop over in Iceland for a couple days while on our way to Amsterdam and Paris I knew I wanted to experience both the vibrant colors of Reykjavik and the hauntingly beautiful, wide open spaces of the rest of Iceland. I stumbled across the ION hotel and instantly knew it was the perfect fit for us. Each room is minimally decorated with luxurious, soft beds contrasting against the hard surfaces of wood and concrete. Gorgeous, serene landscape views can be seen from every room in the hotel and one of the best parts is that the ION hotel is easily accessible from Reykjavik.

We booked the Deluxe room, but I am certain the standard rooms are just as lovely. However, I have never regretted a hotel room upgrade whether it be a higher floor, a better view or a large room. I knew the ION hotel would be the perfect place to fight off jet lag while being completely immersed in such beautiful surroundings. I also thoroughly loved the Icelandic horse mural gracing the wall. It was a good reminder of how I would love to blow up one of my black and white photos on one of our walls.

The view out our hotel room provided solace for us weary eyed travelers and the bed was among the comfiest I have slept in. We were delighted to wake up to a snow storm the next morning and find ourselves in a Winter wonderland. Iceland is just about the most magical place on earth and the fact that it snowed was the cherry on top!

The view out the hotel lobby. I am absolutely in love with these Icelandic wool pillows. I saw them in Reykjavik and was delighted to see they were at this hotel.

Views out every window.

The Northern Lights bar, which was actually more like the ultimate living room.

Hanging moss balls at the reception desk.

The breakfast buffet. As the earliest risers that day at the hotel, we had this spread and the dining area to ourselves. Don't you think every morning should start like this?

As many of you know Iceland is just about my favorite place to visit in all the world. I tell everyone I meet how much I love it there and how it is the most beautiful place I have ever been. The ION Luxury Adventure Hotel further confirms those feelings and I am already eagerly plotting my return.
