Hurricane Ridge
Typically after we have spent a couple of days camping on the beach we head straight to Port Angeles for lunch. After lunch we take the short scenic drive up to Hurricane Ridge for wildflower viewing and wildlife spotting. We can usually count on at minimum seeing several deer, maybe a bear and sometimes a marmot or two. We are always saddened when we see a large crowd of people surrounding an animal and worst yet when they try to feed them a Cheeto or two.
As much as we love nature and the outdoors we try to be respectful and use to our full advantage our long camera lens to get a good shot. The beginning section of the trails are well marked and paved and make for a lovely way to spend an hour or two. One fun fact is how on a clear day you can see all the way to Canada which is a pretty fun sight to see. Although we have never done any backpacking here, we know there is a treasure trove of gorgeous hikes and exploring to do. We love the contrast between the beach and the mountains and feel fortunate to experience such an array of beauty in one day.
A past visit to Hurricane Ridge in 2011.
