Spreading the love all month long
While we were driving in the car the other day I randomly told Jasper "I love you". Rather quickly replied, "I love Daddy, so I guess you are going to find someone else to love like....Mimi" Ha! I never know exactly what my sassy little toddler is going to say to me, so saying he keeps me on my toes is an understatement. Rather than take offense at his reply we had a little conversation about the idea of being able to love more than one person. In classic toddler form, he was not having any of it. Rather than trying to fight a loosing battle I thought we could spend the afternoon making valentines and talking about all the different people we love and who are important to us. Over the past couple of weeks Daddy has cemented his position as the favorite, but I don't mind as long as every now and then I get a hug and a kiss and maybe even an "I love you!"
We have these little mailboxes for each person in our family. This way we can leave little love notes or drawings for each other all month long. I love the idea of teaching by action and this was tangible way Jasper could learn a little more about just how many people he really loves.
