A little bit about Lisette.....

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I feel most alive surrounded by trees and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

When I am not working you will most likely find me spending time outdoors, volunteering with my church and exploring this beautiful planet with my family.

This is my place to share my passion for life and to encourage you to take time to find the extraordinary in your life.

Whale Watching with San Juan Safaris

Whale Watching with San Juan Safaris

On our visit to Friday Harbor we went whale watching with San Juan Safaris. Although it was a little early in the whale watching season; Brian and his team expertly navigated us to see the whales. During our whale watching tour we came upon two transient whales who eventually met up with another two transient whales. One of the most exhilarating experiences on our tour was being able to witness one of the whales spy hop. Spy hopping is when a whale comes straight out of the water to look around and then goes back down. This was a thrill to witness and something I won't easily forget anytime soon.

Aside from the whales we were able to see a variety of wildlife. On our trip we saw bald eagles, porpoises, and seals to name a few. The San Juan Islands are such a rich environment for wildlife in addition to being an absolutely beautiful place to be out on the water. There is nothing quite like being out of the water on a sunny day with the sunshine beating down on your face, and the wind whipping your hair. The entire trip was a feast for the senses.

San Juan Safaris doesn't just provide a whale watching excursion, but an opportunity to learn from the experts. Brian and his team are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to whales. They are eager to talk about the whale's behaviors, swim patterns etc. It is up to you how interactive you want to learn on your whale watching tour to be and how much you want to absorb from them. In my experience, as long as you keep asking questions they are eager to share their knowledge and answer your questions to the best of their ability.

We lucked out with perfect weather on a calm day; a winning combination for a whale watching tour. The boat we went out on for our tour was the perfect size, small enough to feel intimate, but large enough to provide room for us to move around. From first glance it was obvious Brian takes pride in his boat; it is a clean, well maintained, and provides a smooth ride. There was plenty of room for everyone to be outside at once for viewing wildlife or inside if it got too cold. They also were kind enough to provide extra blankets in case you happened to get cold or wanted additional protection from the elements.

Whale watching is a the perfect activity for the whole family. There is something to interest everyone on the tour.

I highly recommend Brian and his team at San Juan Safaris. We are eager to return to Friday Harbor and go with Brian on kayaking expedition this Summer.
