A weekend at Outlook Inn
Located in Eastsound the Outlook Inn is the perfect spot to stay for a romantic getaway, a weekend adventure or a quick mid week pick me up. I don't think many people realize, but the San Juan Islands are only an hour away from Seattle via seaplane or a couple hour drive from Seattle. Once you set foot on the islands time slows down, your worries seem to melt away and the jaw dropping scenery has you constantly reaching for your camera. Orcas island and the Outlook Inn are the type of places you will day dream about for years to come.
During our visit we stayed in the Bay View Suites. Perched on a hill and located right across the street from the water, these rooms easily have some of the best views on the island. My favorite thing about these suites is how there is a separate sitting area and a private balcony. Whether you have a small child or like to hang out in your room in a place other than your bed having a sitting area and a balcony in a hotel room is a total game changer. The Bay View Suites feature one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and the gas fireplace just begs you to linger over a cup of hot cocoa or a good book.
Any time of year is a great time to visit Orcas Island, but Summer is truly a spectacular time to visit when everything is in bloom and blue sky days are the norm.
New Leaf Cafe makes it easy and convenient to enjoy gourmet food without the hassle or worry of dressing up or making reservations months in advance. New Leaf Cafe rivals any food I have had on the island and their salmon is among my favorite things to eat when I visit.
The Outlook Inn has a beautiful garden with walking paths, benches to sit and enjoy the view, a chapel and thousands of beautiful flowers.
When the weather is nice, there is only one place I want to eat and that is out on the New Leaf Cafe patio. The patio has a roof to protect you from the sun or unpredictable weather, the tables are covered with the most cheerful yellow and white striped table cloths and overhead hangs hundreds of lights.
An overflowing pot of nasturtiums.
Across the street from the inn is the great little outdoor space for guests only. It is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic, happy hour or the sunset.
Sprinkled around the property are these wonderful adirondack chairs just begging to be occupied.
The view from our balcony.
Just steps away from the Outlook Inn is the charming town of Eastsound. Eastsound is home to numerous boutiques, an ice cream shop, a bakery, a print shop, a few coffee shops, a couple grocery stores, and a variety of other interesting places to check out. Further afield you will find beaches, kayaking, hiking, boating and plenty to keep you busy for a weekend or a week.
One of my favorite things about Outlook Inn is how they offer a variety of rooms types. Outlook Inn has everything from budget friendly accommodations to more luxurious options. Not only is there a room for every budget, but it makes for an eclectic mix of guests. The Outlook Inn is the type of place where everyone can feel at home.
During my stay I had the opportunity to check out a few other room types and this was the amazing view from Room #5.
Room 8 is cozy and shares a bath, but would be perfect for those who want to play all day, but like to have a comfortable place to rest your head at night.
Sara, the owner of Outlook Inn has worked hard to create this exclusive line of shampoo, lotion and body wash for the inn. If you enjoy these products during your stay, you can purchase them in the inn's gift shop as wonderful and unique souvenir.
The bridge leading guests into the garden like something out of a fairy tale.
The chapel in the distance, just perfect for an intimate island wedding.
The Outlook Inn isn't just a place to spend the night, it is a place to make cherished memories with your friends, family and loved ones. I can't wait to return here again soon.
When your journey home is as memorable as your time on the island.
