After a long Winter, the minute we see the sun peak through the clouds we long to be outside. Come Saturday, we are just itching for adventure. As of late, we have been hopping on the ferry every chance we get to journey as far away as possible for the dayl. Last Saturday, we took the Fauntleroy ferry to Southworth and then drove up to Port Townsend. We stopped at a new breakfast place called the Blue Moose Cafe and then watched Jasper cruise around town on his bike with a new friend he made for the afternoon. It was both a laid back and adventurous day with even a few blissful moments where we did not even need our jackets.
Ferries are Jasper happy place! He loves to run around on their decks, spot all the wildlife he can see and try his best to convince us he needs something from the vending machine.
On our way from Vashon to Southworth we came across this parade of colorful sailboats. There must have been at least thirty of them zig zagging through the water. Sailboats are so breathtaking to watch as they catch the wind and glide across the water.
After a quick google search we came across the Blue Moose Cafe as one of the best places to eat in Port Townsend. We would have never happened upon this place on our own and we were delighted with both the food and the service. The catch: it is a cash only establishment and we are infamous for never having cash on hand. However, this time we happened to get lucky and have cash. We tried the hash with eggs and bacon, the vanilla custard dipped french toast and biscuits and gravy. I thought it might be a bit of a greasy spoon, but it was all very fresh and delicious. I can foresee this place becoming a regular when we are in Port Townsend.
The rest of the day included wandering around town and getting the obligatory ice cream cone from Elevated Ice Cream as well as picking up a few Easter treats for some of Jasper's little friends.
Stumbling upon this pirate ship was a highlight of our day. I can only imagine how dreamy this would be to have in your very own backyard.
