A little bit about Lisette.....

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I feel most alive surrounded by trees and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

When I am not working you will most likely find me spending time outdoors, volunteering with my church and exploring this beautiful planet with my family.

This is my place to share my passion for life and to encourage you to take time to find the extraordinary in your life.

A little Holiday Cheer

A little Holiday Cheer

This year I made a concerted effort to not buy any new Christmas decorations. I already owned two boxes full, so I wanted to either rework what I had or make something new with items I had around the house. Between Pinterest, Instagram and blogs there is no shortage of daily inspiration coming to my inbox.

Last Christmas was hard, so this year I am feeling much more like my festive self. Several years in a row I almost threw out these cute little presents, but this year they seemed like just the thing I wanted to put out. When Cameron and I were dated we purchased these little present ornaments at IKEA for his first Christmas tree, so ten plus years later they have more than paid for themselves. However, these little presents would be easy to replicate. They are a little block of wrapped foam covered in paper and then tied with a bow. The potted Christmas tree I purchased last year from our local nursery and the chalkboard sheet I picked up at Home Depot this Summer and used as our Ice Cream Social's menu. I rummaged around the house and found some sidewalk chalk and quickly scrolled "have yourself a merry little Christmas".

This mantle was very easy to put together and turned out simple and merry. In order to recreate this mantle you will need:

  • 20-25 little wrapped packages
  • potted Christmas tree
  • chalkboard sheet (I found mine at Home Depot)
  • chalk
  • felt ball garland (I hot glued some red felt balls onto some black cording)

What would you suggest for other easy holiday mantle ideas?
