A pit stop in Portland
On our way home from the Oregon coast we decided to take a little detour and meet up with our friends in Portland. Since I easily daydream about going to Portland at least once a month, it was a no brainer when the opportunity presented itself. There is something about Portland that feels so young and hip. The food scene cannot be beat and I love how easy it is to get around. We met up with our friends for lunch at Por Que No and then walked down Mississippi Avenue looking in the various shops. Some of my favorites include: Black Wagon, Paxton Gate, Land, and Pistils Nursery.
While we were walking down the street we ran across the sweetest little puppy. Upon seeing it Jasper started wildly pointing and letting out the sweetest little squeals. Cameron later informed me that had the puppy been for sale we would have come home with it. How lucky Jasper is to have a father whose greatest desire is to make him happy!
An afternoon along Mississippi Avenue is not complete without a trip to Blue Star donuts. All of their donuts include the most interesting flavor profiles like peppered jams, peanut butter powder etc. I am always blown away by their creativity. Jasper is a man who knows what he wants. Once he was done with his milk he promptly crawled over to grab his share of the donuts.
Whenever I am in Portland I am reminded how I need to come and visit more often. It is so close to Seattle and it is just bursting with sights, sounds and taste that I know and love.
