A little bit about Lisette.....

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I feel most alive surrounded by trees and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

When I am not working you will most likely find me spending time outdoors, volunteering with my church and exploring this beautiful planet with my family.

This is my place to share my passion for life and to encourage you to take time to find the extraordinary in your life.

Long weekend on San Juan Island

Long weekend on San Juan Island

Several months ago we planned a trip to San Juan Island. Little did we know back when we booked it our timing would be perfect and we would have spectacular weather all weekend. Since we wanted to stay in the heart of Friday Harbor, we decided to stay at the Bird Rock Hotel. From the moment we stepped foot into the Bird Rock Hotel we were given the royal treatment. Tory, the manager, was not only eager to share his love of the island with us, but fill us in on the best places to eat and things to do during our stay.

In the afternoon, there were freshly baked cookies and lemonade waiting for us and in the morning there was a delicious array of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereal and warm baked scones. The hotel also offers bikes and use of the pool at its sister property Earthbox InnTraveling with a baby can sometimes be stressful and unpredictable, so it was nice to have a welcoming and convenient place to come to throughout the day. In between activities it was easy to stop by the hotel for a feeding or a diaper change. The two bedroom suite we stayed in felt more like a home away from home than a hotel room. It was perfect for our little family's needs with a kitchenette, fireplace and large sunken tub.

During our entire stay we had fabulous weather and spent the majority of our time outside. Over three days we were able to explore the island from one end to the other. One morning we hiked around Cattle Point, that afternoon we had lunch at Lime Kiln Cafe and explored Roche Harbor and in the early evening we wandered through the lovely shops in Friday Harbor. The next day we went whale watching with San Juan Safaris and capped off the day with one of the best meals I have had in a long time at Coho. San Juan Island is the perfect place to have a leisurely yet active weekend away. Within a couple hour drive from Seattle and one scenic ferry ride you are able to travel somewhere breathtakingly beautiful. Even though you haven't traveled far, you feel as though you are far away everyday life. I am eager to return to San Juan Island this Summer to spend some time exploring the area by kayak, dine at Duck Soup Inn, browse through my favorite stores, enjoying another delicious meal at Coho and spend a few restful nights at Bird Rock Hotel
