Sauvie Island and Portland getaway
As someone who has grown up in the Pacific Northwest I consider myself somewhat of an expert of places to go and things to do in the surrounding areas of Seattle, Portland, Vancouver and afar. When I stumble upon a place like Sauvie Island which is so beautiful, yet in such close proximity to an area I have spent enormous quantities of time, I am both delighted and astonished.
Last month, we had the opportunity to spend a hot Summer day, driving around Sauvie Island stopping to explore the beaches, the farm stands and all the beautiful scenery. We made our home base a picturesque carriage house in North Portland complete with an outdoor living space and koi pond. Three cheers for Airbnb! Croquet and water balloons were the highlights of our time spent there.
Airbnb is a total game changer when it comes to traveling with kids. There are endless options and unique amenities available at each property. Rather than being stuck inside a hotel during the day it can really help boost your fun as a parent to have a backyard to enjoy while your children nap or go to bed early.
These self tying water balloons are the most ingenious Summer invention to date. I want to buy them by the truckload.
We ended the trip waiting in line for well over an hour for the most amazing biscuit sandwiches at Pine State Biscuit.
Portland, we can't wait to come back again soon!
