Christmas Ships 2018
When we were first married we lived in downtown Kirkland just a stone’s throw from the water. Almost every night in December we would hear loud Christmas music echoing off the buildings along the water. One night, we were curious and made our way down to the water to figure out where the sound was coming from. What we discovered was our first Christmas tradition- the Argosy Christmas Ships.
Every year since we have boarded one of their boats and set sail for a chilly night of fun, singing, holiday trivia and Christmas cheer. We have endured the bitter cold and one time it even snowed. Frozen fingers and toes have been no match for the warmth which fills our hearts. With age comes wisdom, and this year we got smart and donned our insulated boots.
This year, it was a perfectly cool and crisp night. As we pulled away from the city there was a small parade of boats which followed us into the dark night. Together, we slowly made our way over to Manchester under star filled skies. Once there we enjoyed a performance by the Dickens Carolers and then our favorite part- a fireworks show afterward. There is nothing more quintessentially Seattle than celebrating in the cold, on the water and with the backdrop of the city behind us.
