A little bit about Lisette.....

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I feel most alive surrounded by trees and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

When I am not working you will most likely find me spending time outdoors, volunteering with my church and exploring this beautiful planet with my family.

This is my place to share my passion for life and to encourage you to take time to find the extraordinary in your life.

In Seaside, Oregon there is a laidback place called the Ashore Hotel. Located just a stone's throw away from the beach on a quiet side street. It is a newly renovated motel with a couple dozen rooms, a small menu of bites to eat, a fire pit, a pool, a sauna, unlimited use of beach cruisers and all you really need for a fun family beach getaway.

Off to the side of check in there is a living room area where you can find games and DVDs to take back to your room. They offer a small selection of bites to eat like flatbreads and cheese plates during the day and in the morning a selection of waffles and breakfast sandwiches.

The rooms at Ashore Hotel are sparse, but inviting. Some have faux fireplaces and sitting areas while others have living areas and additional rooms with bunk beds.

A two minute walk from Ashore Hotel and you are in the heart of downtown Seaside. There is an assortment of shops, restaurants, a couple ice cream places and plenty of places to buy salt water taffy, beach toys and kites.

The first day we arrived it rained, but after that we had sun breaks and clouds for the rest of our visit. The thing about the Oregon coast is the weather can be as nice in April as it is in July. Spring is a wonderful time to visit because the crowds are not as great as during the height of the Summer.

A beach vacation is perfect for families with small children because all it takes is surf and sand to keep your children occupied for hours.

We always travel with a large stack of books, cars and our Gathre mat.

We have stayed at their sister property Adrift Hotel time and time again. Our favorite amenity there just like here is the use of their beach cruisers. We spent the better part of our stay riding around town checking out the various beach front homes and imagining living in such a leisurely place.

It is always my preference if we don't have a small kitchen to have easy access to fresh made food. The waffle menu at Ashore Hotel was the perfect thing to start our day off right and fill our bellies before we hit the beach.

In addition to use of the beach cruisers, the hotel has a small assortment of buckets and shovels for its guests to use. It was so nice to not have to pack or buy another thing.

During our stay we did surprise Jasper with a new kite. He had never flown one before and within a few minutes he really got the hang of it. However, I think his favorite part was letting loose of his kite and watching either Mom or Dad run down the beach chasing after it. Ha!

There is a nice little boardwalk which runs along the beach at Seaside. Once you get a couple minutes out of the heart of town you really have the pathway to yourself.
