The fourth of July
Holidays with young children can be tricky. As parents you still want to do fun things, but you know you will have to either work around nap schedules or pay for it the next day. This year we kept it pretty low key. We went on a family run and beach hopping in the morning, followed by an impromptu bbq with my parents and watched the fireworks on Lake Union in the evening. Although I am such a planner, sometimes the best plans are to not have any and see how the day plays out.
All day long Jasper was mildly concerned about all the fireworks he heard going off. Throughout the day, we repeatedly reassured him and told him how much fun he was going to have at the fireworks show. Once the show started Jasper put on a brave face and in the end he enjoyed it more than we thought he would. I love my cautious little boy and how he is not embarrassed to be hesitant at times. I am proud he is able to go along with things and enjoy experiences outside of his comfort zone.
