Oxtober at Oxbow Farm
As a family, we like to spend the month of October visiting various farms on the weekend. There are different things we like about each place we visit from the dizzying array of specialty pumpkins and gourds at Gordon Skagit to the cow train and jumping pillow at Swan Trail Farm and the calm vibe, gorgeous scenery, fun slingshot, and informative hay ride tour at Oxbow Farm.
While many farms have become fairly gimmicky, Oxbow stays true to its roots and does what it knows best; which is to grow food and teach others the importance of learning about your environment and how to be the best steward of it. Extra kudos to Oxbow for offering the healthiest and most delicious food of all the farms I have visited and for getting my children excited about the little things in life like coloring a pumpkin and catapulting apples as far as they can.
Oxtober runs for one more weekend October 29th-30th from 10-4 pm.
A totally random side note we met Jessica from Pennyloaf Bread who just so happens to live in West Seattle and now we are able to sign up and order fresh baked bread weekly from her. Such a treat!
