Annual trip to the North Cascades
This year we celebrated the ten year anniversary of our first son, Asher, passing away. I can hardly believe it has been ten years of coming up to the North Cascades and celebrating him. We have grown to love this place deeply and it has made all the difference in the world to have somewhere to escape as our family continues to heal, grieve and celebrate..
As we have added more children to our family it has definitely made the sadness deepen that he is not here with us. What I would give to see Jasper and Daphne with their older brother. On his birthday we make it a point to spend a day in the mountains, hiking, drinking in the fresh air and absorbing all the beauty around us. It is impossible to not see God in the details when we are in the mountains.
I have always had a deep fondness for this time of year and I do not think it was coincidence my deepest valleys and highest peaks have come at a time of year I already held near to my heart.
