Adrift Hotel in Long Beach, WA
Over the long weekend we went on a mini vacation to Long Beach, WA. Although we typically think of the beach as a warm weather destination, the idea of long walks on the beach and storm watching without crowds sounded ideal. We stayed at the Adrift Hotel, which is the perfect blend between minimalist, modern and environmentally friendly. One of our favorite parts of the Adrift Hotel aside from the location were the beach cruisers they allow guests to check out for no additional charge. In Long Beach, we spent countless hours riding our bikes along the Discovery Trail stopping often to soak in all the swoon worthy scenery, visited lighthouses and poked around town.
At the Adrift Hotel, our room had a beautiful ocean view, a king size bed, a desk and a chaise lounge. Our room was thoughtfully decorated with repurposed materials and photographs of local points of interest hung on the walls. The large windows which framed the beach provided a calming backdrop for the weekend. Whites, blues and grays contributed to a crisp, clean, beachy atmosphere in our room.
The in house restaurant, The Pickled Fish offers a locally inspired menu amidst an urban chic vibe. Repurposed canning jars created whimsical lighting and were in stark contrast to the hardwoods, metal, and concrete of the restaurant. Guests sip from mason jars while nibbling on local cheeses and enjoying fresh seafood. Sweeping views of the beach are enjoyed from almost every seat in the dining room. On weekends, The Pickled Fish offers live music which provides wonderful entertainment for guests and locals alike.
Exposed beams and concrete provide a no frills, but relaxed vibe in the lobby. Snacks and various environmentally friendly sundries are available for purchase. Coffee, tea and water are available to guests throughout the day as is rental of an assortment of beach cruisers.
One of the best parts of the Adrift Hotel is its location to the beach. A short two minute walk from the hotel and you are standing on the beach. I could sit and watch the tide come in and out or play in the surf for hours here.
Adrift Hotel offers additional packages for clam digging or bonfires. They provide all the necessary tools for your chosen beach activity and all you have to do is show up. All the fun without any fuss on your part.

Vacationing in the off season is a great way to save money and have the beach all to yourself. The weather in Washington is unpredictable enough that it might feel like Spring in the Winter and Winter in the Summer. In January, while we were there we experienced one day of fog, one of clouds and one of sunshine.

One of the foggiest places in America is Cape Disappointment, right near Long Beach, WA. Other places that are quite foggy in the US include Charleston, and San Francisco. Cape Disappointment can remain foggy for more than 100 days a year. All this moisture hanging around in the air helps to create these beautiful mossy forests and trails.

The Adrift Hotel is the perfect destination for a romantic beach getaway, a family friendly vacation or for anyone looking for a relaxing time. There is no shortage of beaches to comb, trails to explore and beautiful places to create memories to last a lifetime.
