Long weekend in Long Beach
Last year over Mother's Day weekend we stayed at the Adrift Hotel in Long Beach, WA with my parents. We had so much fun we decided to head back and stay at their sister property Inn at Discovery Coast. Inn at Discovery Coast is a smaller, more intimate hotel, closer to the beach and a tad more luxurious. We stayed in the top corner rooms which had large jetted tubs, unobstructed ocean views and thoughtful touches such as roses and chocolate on your pillow. We spent a majority of out time outdoors riding along the Discovery Trail, eating leisurely meals at the Pickled Fish and enjoying the view.
One of our favorite things about Adrift Hotel and Inn at the Discovery Coast is their free beach cruiser rental. This time we brought a bike trailer and took Jasper on his first family bike ride. At first he hated it, but then he got used to it and fell into a deep sleep.

Jasper loves to jump and bounce when we hold his hands. He is such a happy boy, we feel very blessed.
We had the Discovery Trail to ourselves for most of the weekend.
Now that Jasper is more mobile, we have learned it is important to build in a lot of downtime during the day for him to roll around and play. Since we will be spending more time in our room than in the past we like to splurge on a room with a view, an extra comfy bed or large jetted tub. This time we lucked out with all three!
Some of the highlights of the weekend included being able to spend Mother's Day with my mother, eating fresh crab at the Pickled Fish, our first family bike ride, watching Jasper do just about anything, eating fresh donuts from Cottage Bakery, enjoying a beautiful sunset together from our room, having seagulls as our constant companion outside our window and sneaking away a couple times for a bike ride with Cameron while my parents watched Jasper. This weekend was a good reminder how fortunate we are to have eager babysitters at our fingertips and how lucky Jasper is to be able to spend quality time with his grandparents. I am also grateful there are so many beautiful places to visit within a few hours drive and that my parents take such an active role in our lives.

Jasper is not only super flexible, but is putting EVERYTHING in his mouth. His latest trick is that he likes to nibble on his toes. It is just about the cutest thing ever and provides hours of entertainment.
It was not until I had children I realized how many hopes and dreams my parents had for me. I love to see how happy Jasper makes my parents and what a blessing he is to them too.

The seagulls were our constant companion outside our window. I rather enjoyed them until they woke up Jasper one day from his nap.
