A little bit about Lisette.....

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I feel most alive surrounded by trees and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

When I am not working you will most likely find me spending time outdoors, volunteering with my church and exploring this beautiful planet with my family.

This is my place to share my passion for life and to encourage you to take time to find the extraordinary in your life.

Turtleback Farm Inn

Turtleback Farm Inn

A couple weeks ago we enjoyed a picturesque weekend on Orcas Island. We stayed at the charming Turtleback Farm Inn and enjoyed solitude, rolling farmlands and excellent service. The Inn is located in Crow Valley and sits on the western side of Orcas Island. The proprietors, Susan and Bill Fletcher are energetic, friendly and as welcoming as can be. They simultaneously serve, entertain and engage their guests.

The morning started off quiet as light filled our Meadow View room we were able to watch sheep graze and baby lambs prance around. Breakfast was a medley of fresh fruit, their famous granola atop yogurt, followed by crepes. I didn't realize their would be so much food for breakfast, but I certainly enjoyed every last bite.

After breakfast we donned our rubber boots and set out for a walk around the property. Turtleback Farm Inn sits on eighty acres and has everything from a large pond, a chicken coop, beautiful out buildings and plenty of rolling hills.

At breakfast Bill, one of the owners, told us how only one of the sheep has a name and that his name is Chompers. And the reason he named him Chompers was because he loves to eat so much. Cameron was very excited to meet Chompers and from the moment we set foot into the pasture there was one sheep which came running towards us. The moment we saw him we knew it must be him. Cameron and Chompers became fast friends, but the moment we ran out of food Chompers became a bit disinterested in us. Having Chompers follow us around was sure fun while it lasted though.

This is a separate building called the Orchard House which has four king bedrooms with gas fireplaces.

Watching the baby lambs run all around and then stick close to their mothers when they called was remarkable to watch. It was evident they had been taught well and were very obedient to their mothers.

We stayed in The Farmhouse in the Meadow View room. The Meadow View room has a queen bed, a large bathroom with a claw foot tub, lots of windows, natural light and a large deck with a wonderful view of the property.

In the evening we enjoyed relaxing in the family room to the sounds of a crackling wood burning fireplace while we read and listened to the rain pouring down outside. Staying at Turtleback Farm Inn feels like staying at an old friend's house. The mood is relaxed and there is always a warm smile and a friendly face ready to greet you.
