Out and About with Kids: Franklin Falls
If you are looking for a short hike to introduce either your child or your family to the outdoors Franklin Falls is a great option. The hike is a short two miles round trip along a well groomed trail and does not have much elevation gain. On Saturdays the trail can be relatively busy, but the large waterfall at the end is a big pay off for such little work. Such a lovely way to spend a morning together as a family.
Our proud little hiker. I think he always feels more official with a hiking pole in hand.
Who needs to go to a playground with a slide when you can slide down rocks instead?!
Driving Directions:
From Seattle, head east on I-90 to exit 47 Denny Creek/Tinkham Road. At the top of the exit ramp, turn left and cross over the freeway. Go 0.2 miles and turn right at the stop sign onto Forest Road 58. The road crosses under the freeway, after driving 0.2 miles, turn left.
Continue straight on for 2.9 miles and about a half mile past the Denny Creek Campground there is a large paved parking lot on the right that can accommodate about 60 cars.
