Blueberry Picking at Larsen Lake
This time of year we happily skip from strawberries to raspberries and now blueberries. I loved watching Jasper exclaim, "WOW! There are so many booberries on this bush" and then right after he picked several he would grab them back out of his bucket and shove them into his mouth. In between all this busyness every two minutes he would say. " I love you so much Mama" as he continually scouted out dandelions to pick and hand to me. I know I say it time and time again, but I would love to hit pause and freeze this little man like this forever.
After about forty minutes of picking he had eaten all his berries, tipped over his bucket, pulled out his bag and lost interest with the prospect of picking anymore. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him repeatedly jumping off of his bucket and happily entertaining himself amongst the rows of blueberries. I am endlessly grateful for such an unpredictable, opinionated and fun companion these days.
Larsen Lake is managed by the City of Bellevue and the perfect spot to spend a couple hours with little ones. There is a u-pick berry farm, a farm stand and a lovely little lake. I love finding cute spots like this especially when they don't require me to drive far or spend a ton of money. If my memory serves me correctly I believe the blueberries were around $1.00/per pound which a complete steal in my book.
