The beach
All it takes is one seventy degree day and I start dreaming of the beach. Growing up in Washington, I am very accustom to cold, stormy and rocky beaches. Warm, soft sand beaches are actually something of a novelty around here. The things I love most about the beach don't involve bathing suits or sunscreen, rather I always find the beaches around here to be a calm, remote, and reflective places. When I am at the beach I love to explore tide pools, have a bonfire, spend the evening watching the sun dip below the horizon, and pitching our tent directly on the beach.
Beach camping is an all time highlight of our year. A couple days without cell phones, being outdoors from sunrise to sunset, gorgeous views for miles and listening to the constant crash of the surf is all I need to feel reconnected to the outdoors.
Here are some suggestions I have put together for planning your own beach camping trip.
Donning our rubber boots and forging across small rivers in search of adventure.
If you are not the filter your own water, make your own food over open flame, roughing it type. Then there is no shortage of wonderful places to go on vacation to experience firsthand all those warm, sandy beaches. Delray Beach or Nicaragua make for both lovely and crowd less vacations.
Renting a beach house with friends is a great way to enjoy the beach while getting a good night's rest.
