Spring on San Juan Island
Spring time is filled with flowers, sunshine, rain and the excitement which comes with longer days. We love visiting places in the shoulder seasons of Spring and Fall either before the busy tourist season or after.
Here are a few of our favorite spots on the island to check out:
Cattle Point: for gorgeous bluff hikes, eagle spotting and serenity
New Day Garden: our favorite roadside pit stop to pick up dahlia tubers and fresh flowers.
Friday Harbor Farmer's Market: for fresh baked goods, tomato plants, barbecued oysters and anything else which might catch your eye.
Some of our favorite spots to stay include:
Bird Rock Hotel, Earthbox Inn and Lakedale Resort.
Roche Harbor: for fresh donuts at Lime Kiln Cafe, delicious salads at Madrona Bar and Grill and kayaking with San Juan Safaris.
Some of our favorite places to eat on the island include:
The Bait Shop: for fast and delicious fish & chips
Coho: for fresh, local, thoughtfully made food
Duck Soup Inn: (temporarily closed, but slated to reopen soon) local, creative food in a cozy setting
Madrona Bar & Grill: for enormous and gigantic salads
San Juan Island Cheese: for the unique take on grilled cheese and the perfect spot to pick up supplies for a picnic.
Downriggers: for fresh food with beautiful views
South Beach: for beach exploration, picnics and bonfires by the beach
San Juan Park: for a great kayak launch area, picnic, rock throwing or camping
Lime Kiln Lighthouse: for gorgeous sunsets, whale spotting and plenty of photo ops.
