Our gender reveal party
Almost two years to the date we held a gender reveal for when we were pregnant with our first child, Asher. My parents at the time only had granddaughters, so the announcement of the first grandson was really a reason to celebrate. As simple and last minute as the party was it has remained one of our favorite parties we have ever hosted.
Over the past two years with our son passing away we have experienced our highest highs and our lowest lows. We have been truly lifted up by the thoughts and prayers of others and have never felt to a greater degree the love so many people have for us. If Asher taught us one thing it is that life is brief and should be celebrated. We have learned the importance in sharing our joys as well as our sorrows. We feel honored to be growing our family again so soon, so it only seemed fitting to host a gender reveal for baby #2.
Last time, we found out the day of the party what the gender of our child would be. This time we found out several weeks prior to our party which was not only a challenging, but a fun secret to keep. Coming from a female dominate family I was ecstatic to reveal we are expecting another little boy.
For the party, I agonized over how to make the big reveal, but ultimately we kept it simple. I wanted it to be different than last time, but still equally dramatic. This time, I purchased light pink and blue balloons and then Cameron and I simultaneously released whichever color we were not having. It was a lovely moment and one I will cherish all the days of my life.
Have you ever hosted a party to reveal a big surprise or secret?
Throughout the week I will share some of the different elements I created to make the party extra special.
